MAHLE, a world leader in engine components, was founded in  Founded in 1920 in Stuttgart, Germany, by brothers Hermann and Ernst Mahle, for the production of lightweight alloy pistons. Today, it operates factories located in Europe, the United States, Mexico, China, India, Japan, Argentina, and Brazil, and has sixteen integrated research centers around the world.

In 1951, Ernst Mahle settled in Brazil and became a founding partner of the company Metal Leve, establishing a solid partnership and providing technology for the start of operations.

In 1978, MAHLE acquired controlling shares of Cima Componentes Automotivos SA and in the same year, began construction of a factory in Mogi Guaçu (SP), which started operating in 1981 and, from 1989, changed its name to MAHLE Indústria e Comércio Ltda.

In June 1996, the controlling shareholders of Metal Leve SA transferred shareholding control to MAHLE GmbH, which in 1998 changed its corporate name to MAHLE Metal Leve SA as a result of the incorporation of MAHLE Pistões Ltda. (a subsidiary of MAHLE Indústria e Comércio Ltda.) by Metal Leve SA. Also in 1998, MAHLE Metal Leve entered into a joint venture with the Austrian company Miba for sintered products.

In 2001, the stake in MAHLE Metal Leve SA was transferred to MAHLE Indústria e Comércio Ltda, which centralized control of investments in Brazil.

In 2002, MAHLE Sistemas de Filtração Ltda. was incorporated by MAHLE Metal Leve SA, and in 2003, the shareholders of MAHLE Metal Leve approved the incorporation of MAHLE MMG Indústria e Comércio Ltda. after acquiring all the shares from MAHLE Ventiltrieb GmbH.

In 2004, MAHLE Metal Leve GmbH was established, headquartered in Austria, with the aim of increasing the Company's exports, as well as improving the quality of customer service and support.

In 2005, the Company began the project to construct and install the Technology Center in the city of Jundiaí (SP).

In 2007, the operational assets of Dana Indústria Ltda. in the city of Gravataí for the production of bushings were acquired, as well as all the shares of Establecimentos Metalurgicos Edival SA located in Argentina, which produces valves for the original equipment and replacement markets. At the end of the same year, the distribution businesses of pistons, cylinders and aftermarket from the company MAHLE SA of Argentina (today, Compañia Rosarina SA), a wholly owned subsidiary of its parent company, by the company MAHLE Válvulas de Argentina SA (formerly Edival), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company.

In January 2008, at an Extraordinary General Meeting, MAHLE Válvulas de Argentina SA (formerly Edival) approved, among other matters, the change of its corporate name to MAHLE Argentina SA. In May of that year, the Company and the German company Hirshvogel Umformtechnik GmbH formalized the formation of a joint venture, with the consequent acquisition by the Company of 51% of the ordinary shares in the privately held company Forjas Brasileiras SA, headquartered in Queimados, RJ, which then became known as MAHLE Hirschvogel Forjas SA. In June, the new Technological Center (CT) was inaugurated in the city of Jundiaí (SP), considered the largest and best-equipped research and development center for engine technology in Latin America. Through a modern architectural concept, it was planned to affect the natural balance of the Serra do Japi, where it is located, as little as possible.

In November 2010, the corporate reorganization of the MAHLE Group South America was approved, which generally comprises the following steps: (a) incorporation of Mahle Componentes de Motores do Brasil Ltda. by its parent company Mahle Participações Ltda.; (b) acquisition, by the Company, of shares issued by Mahle Participações Ltda. held by Mahle Industriebeteiligungen GmbH; (c) incorporation of Mahle Participações Ltda. by the Company;

In 2011, the Company conducted a secondary public offering of shares held by MAHLE Industriebeteiligungen GmbH. In the context of the offering, the Company converted all of its preferred shares into common shares and joined the Novo Mercado, the highest level of corporate governance of B3 SA – Brasil, Bolsa, Balcão.

In 2013, the Company sold 10% of the shares of Mahle Metal Leve Miba Sinterizados Ltda to Miba Sinter Holding GmbH & Co KG for R$ 4.68 million. In the same year, the Company decided to increase the share capital of its subsidiary MAHLE Industrial Filtration Ltda. and amend its share capital, which then broadly encompassed the manufacture and sale of industrial filters, parts and accessories for engines, machines, equipment and tools in general, as well as the provision of services for the development of engineering projects and technical assistance for these products.

In 2015, the limited liability company Innoferm Tecnologia Ltda. was established, in which MAHLE Metal Leve SA holds a 33.3% stake. In the same year, the Company discontinued operations of its subsidiary MAHLE Hirschvogel Forjas SA. Also in 2015, the Company's Board of Directors approved a service agreement between the Company and MAHLE Behr Brasil Ltda. and MAHLE Compressores do Brasil Ltda.

On June 30, 2017, the Company completed the sale of 60% of the shares that MAHLE Metal Leve SA held in the share capital of MAHLE Metal Leve Miba Sinterizados Ltda. to Miba Sinter Holding GmbH & Co KG.

In 2018, the Company's Board of Directors approved the incorporation of its subsidiary MAHLE Industry do Brasil Ltda.
